At a gig the other night, a member of the Friendly Society came up to me and suggested I write a song about the Bierly Waterfall, the only such feature on the Isle of Wight. I might well go and have a look, I’d not heard of it before.
The year of Sgt. Pepper’s… How about Lovely Rita?
And another member has just suggested a song about the Hammerhead Crane in Cowes, no doubt inspired by the lino cut that I just shared on Facebook.
The Hammerhead crane it is then!!! Should be ready by the end of this week.
Okay as there’s been no overwhelming winner, I’m going with Sugartown. Should be ready by the end of this week.

Last Day of June, i am sitting in front of my notebook thinking of what to suggest. here are my thoughts:
* “squatting” – i just glanced through a catalogue of a very good exhibition about the history of Viennese house squatters…
* “blood-red moon” – sigrid just told me a story of a late afternoon when she was fifteen. she had a walk and an enormous blood-red moon seemed to get smaller the nearer she tried to get…
* “harlequin ladybird” – we seem to have a nest of Harmonia axyridis (multicouloured asian lady beetle, haloween lady beetle, harlequin ladybird) inside our wooden window…

Thank you for last month’s wonderful cover. I now have my favourite cover of my favourite picture. I don’t want to hog this forum, but I’ve given everyone a week to be fair and I am busting to suggest a song called Reentry by Vincius Cantuaria. I think it is perfect for a cover by you and this man’s music deserves to be more widely known. The Guardian said “if more people covered his songs, we’d be talking about him as the new Tom Jobim.” So I’d be dead pleased to help this effort along.

I saw you singing songs from ‘Found’ at the Musicport festival a couple of weeks ago and thought it was unlike anything I’d seen/heard before….Simple,empathetic, modest,and refreshing are words that come to mind; and I loved your voice and both of your playing – I hope I’ll have the chance to see you again. Have you heard of the Bandroom in Farndale? Nigel Burnham puts on some really interesting gigs on there and if you are ever looking for a place to play to an audience of around 100 I think you’d go down well there. Hi Paul, hope you’re well. Excited to hear about new album plans already! My vote – my favourite Bowie song, not an obscure one, I’m afraid – is: Golden Years.
As for the Labyrinth Soundtrack, i prefer “Magic Dance” or “As the World Falls Down” 🙂
I always loved Bowie’s Soul-period, and would love to here your version of “Golden Years”, or maybe “Young Americans”

Just saw you on BBC news, what a fantastic voice, reminded me of Leonard Cohen. Bravo
Saw Paul at the station on 1st , we commented how great his beard looked and could see he was someone with presence and style with his wide legged jeans and his Guitar. When we got home and saw him on South Today immediately recognised the man at the station with flare in his stride … now looking at his music
